About Kingaroy
Originated in 1886, Kingaroy was first known as “Kingaroy Paddock”. The name Kingaroy originates from the Aboriginal term “kingerroy” meaning ‘red ant’ and its probably most famous for its towering peanut silos.
Kingaroy is the processing capital of Australia’s peanut industry, however, there’s so much more to this fertile region than the humble Peanut.
Kingaroy is also a rich agricultural area; producing grains, soybeans, corn, sunflowers, cotton, dairy foods, beef cattle and wine! Kingaroy is also the home to Queensland’s largest 100% Australian pork supplier.
Education is covered in Kingaroy, with a number of private and public schools, as well as a TAFE campus at the southern end of town.
Population
Kingaroy and its immediate surrounding area has a population of over 10,500, with a median age of 38.
